Learning about fashion
That's it in a nutshell. If you’re fascinated by fashion, creative, good at illustration and have a feel for market and fashion trends then this is the one for you. You also require a basic knowledge of product development and manufacturing to train as a Certified Product Developer of Fashion. Here’s what else you’ll need:
Admission requirements
Secondary school GCSE / A-levels or equivalent (Hauptschule/Realschule and Fachhochschulreife /allgemeine Hochschulreife in Germany)
Plus one of the following degrees:
- Apprenticeship and journeyman's certificate as a custom, fashion, ladies' or men's tailor or
- Vocational college for fashion and design with a degree as certified fashion designer. Plus journeyman's certificate or one year of work experience or
- Vocational school with graduation as state-certified fashion designer and external journeyman's certificate
Plus:
Previous experience of illustration, creative ability.
Plus:
Applicants are required to pass an admissions test.

Required application documents
Application form, curriculum vitae in tabular format complete with passport photograph. Copies of school leaving certificate / examination results, vocational training certificates (later submission also possible), work experience and work placement references.
Admissions test
The admissions test lasts one full day and is divided into two parts. Part 1 is the written, creative section, focused mainly on production technology, nature studies, illustration and design. Part 2 is an oral exam in the presence of an examination board that may typically include questions about your motivation for application, plus you may be given some tasks to perform that require improvisation or skills of association.
